Custom-Made Dentures in Melbourne

If you’re considering dentures, you’re not alone. According to the American College of Prosthodontists, over 36 million Americans do not have any natural teeth remaining, and 120 million Americans are missing at least one tooth. But whether you’ve lost your teeth due to periodontal disease, tooth decay, or injury, getting dentures is a big decision.

Dentures are artificial teeth that are used to replace missing natural teeth. They can be used to restore both the function and aesthetics of your smile. And while they may take some getting used to, with proper care and maintenance, dentures can last for many years.

If you’re thinking about getting dentures, Affordable Dentures & Implants is here for you. We create amazing smiles through dental implants and dentures. Connect with our team and learn how we can deliver same-day smiles!

Types of Dentures

There are two main types of dentures: full dentures and partial dentures.

denture-full

Full Dentures

Full dentures are used to replace all of the teeth in your upper or lower jaw. They’re made up of an artificial gum-colored base that supports a set of replacement teeth. The base of the denture rests on your gums and is held in place with natural suction or dental adhesives.

denture-partial

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are used to replace just some of the teeth in your mouth. They consist of an artificial gum-colored base that supports a set of replacement teeth. The base of the partial denture is attached to your natural teeth with metal clasps or brackets.

Your dentist will help you decide which type of denture is right for you based on the number and location of your missing teeth.

Process of Getting Dentures

Step One:
Measurements

During your first visit, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth and gums. These impressions will be used to create a model of your mouth, which will be used to make your dentures.

Your dentist will also measure the size and shape of your jaw and choose the right color for your dentures.

Step Two:
Manufacturing

Once all of the necessary impressions and measurements have been made, your dentures will be sent to a dental lab where they will be made. It usually takes about two weeks for dentures to be ready.

Step Three:
Fitting

You will then need to come back for a fitting. During this appointment, your dentist will check to see that the fit and color of your dentures are correct. If everything looks good, you’ll be able to wear your dentures home.

If you’re getting partial dentures, your dentist will also attach the metal clasps or brackets during this visit.
